In 2009, when the global banking crisis changed everything, founder Doug made a bold choice — instead of waiting for opportunity, he decided to create it.

That first year was tough. But by early 2010, his former colleague Pete reached out with a project that became ProForma’s first major contract — and the spark that turned challenge into momentum.

The early years brought work in oil and gas, manufacturing, and mining, each project building a reputation for precision, dependability, and partnership.

In 2012, ProForma added Finite Element Analysis (FEA) services using ANSYS software — a turning point that set the team apart through advanced simulation and data-driven design.

Over time, ProForma supported patent development for clients and created innovations that helped major companies succeed. Between 2018 and 2024, Doug stepped into a directorship role with a major pipeline intervention company. In 2024, Doug returned to ProForma full-time, expanding the team and reaffirming its commitment to intelligent, human-first engineering.

What began in a spare bedroom soon expanded to offices in Winnipeg, Thompson, Fort McMurray, and soon Red Deer. Today, ProForma is ten times the size of its humble beginnings, continuing to grow with the same curiosity, integrity, and problem-solving mindset that started it all.
